If you’ve ever built a house, or know someone who has taken on the mammoth task, you’ll know that a great deal of planning, expense and expertise goes into building the dream home. Yet a house is just one element in our overall financial plan. Over the course of your lifetime you’ll earn substantially more than you’ll ever pay for your home and will need to have saved several times the value of your home in order to retire. Shouldn’t we be spending at least as much time and effort on our financial plans as we do on our building plans?
